It is meant to enhance the participants understanding of interpretation, scoring, current protocols, and the latest research in the field of dysphagia. Throughout the 2-day workshop, participants will have an opportunity to sharpen their skills, share their experiences, and calibrate their scoring and interpretation against Dr Langmore and other participants. It will be an interactive course.
Course participants
The course is tailored towards clinicians (ENT, physicians, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, nurses) who have been using FEES for at least one year, and who want more advanced training in scoring and interpreting FEES exams.
This course is offered for 0.65 CEU’s (Intermediate level; Professional area), and a certificate of completion is provided to participants who complete all parts of the 2-day course.

Teaching Methods
Lectures and interactive case studies. The instructor will have videos to review, but participants are encouraged to bring their own videos that were challenging to interpret and/or proved challenging in recommending diet or rehabilitation options. Optimal scope handling technique, various scoring tools, and updates on FEES research will also be discussed. A live patient examination will also be demonstrated and will be interactive.

Dr. Langmore is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Otolaryngology, Boston University School of Medicine. Over the years, she has held a full clinical caseload in addition to teaching at Boston University. Dr. Langmore is based out of California and is currently is conducting research on dysphagia due to ICU intubation. She is also working on a project to validate the FEES scoring system.
Dr. Langmore is best known for developing the FEES procedure and she has taught many clinicians how to become proficient in using this procedure. She is also well known for her research in aspiration pneumonia. Recently, she completed a clinical trial with head/neck cancer patients, serving as the Principal Investigator. Dr Langmore has been awarded Fellow of American Speech- Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and Honors of the Association, was President of the Dysphagia Research Society for the 2019-20 term and is on the Editorial Board of the journal Dysphagia.
